Jamie Oliver Helps Me to Use Up My Veg Box!

I love receiving my fruit, salad and vegetable boxes - I get quite excited about what delights will be revealed as I open the boxes. However, I have to admit that I dsc_0303have had to find new recipes in order to include some of the contents into my family’s diet. Take, for example this week we received a butternut squash. We’ve had quite a few lately and at first I struggled to know what to do with them. CAKES! This is the answer provided by Jamie in his book “Jamie at Home” - and the recipe works a treat. What I also really like about his recipe is that he uses olive oil as rather than butter - so great for those with dairy allergies or vegans. I also made the cakes with gluten-free flour and it still worked out fine.

My Best Organic Shower & Bath Gel

Avalon Organics have a good range of products, but my favourite has to be their lavender shower gel. I’m not usually a huge fan of lavender scent, but this is nice and relaxing and not overpowering. It’s also moisturising, so it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight.

My Best Organic Vegetarian Cafe

infinityfoodcafeInfinity Foods Cafe is situated in Gardner Street, Brighton.

This cafe holds a very special place in my heart as it was the first place I ever took my son to eat out. The reason why is that it caters for special diets, and as my son cannot have dairy, the vegan foods available were absolutely superb. He had sliced mushrooms on toast with a little balsamic vinegar and loved it!

Another vegan favourite for us is the huge plate of potato wedges with garlic and herb dip - completely delicious. The portion is very generous and leaves you nicely full up to go and do more shopping or just watch the world go by.

The location is convenient, in central Brighton, with a choice of upstairs and downstairs seating, as well as outside. Sitting outside at one of the patio tables, watching the colourful spectacle of Brighton’s inhabitants and visitors is just wonderful.

The cafe has thoughtfully provided highchairs, clean toilets, drinking water for customers to help themselves from a jug, and freshly cooked food. The cakes and salad bar always look well-stocked and tempting.

It’s good value for money, and I have been able to eat well for under £4.00 x

My Best Organic Lipbalm

Having tried almost every brand of lipbalm available, I finally found one that is effective. I don’t know about you, but some lipbalms give me some instant relief from dry lips, and then 15 minutes later I’m needing to reapply it. This one by Lavera is excellent…extremely good value for money and long lasting.

The only problem I have now, is how to stop my son from hiding it, as that appears to be his favourite hobby. When we moved house I found three tubes of lipbalm hidden - one in a toy storage box in his bedroom, one wedged on top of a book on a book shelf and one slotted into a magazine file in the study.
